Excuse ME: Ellen D on AI

Last week, American Idol fans were shocked to hear Paula Abdul had finally been (gasp!) replaced with comedian and talk-show host, Ellen DeGeneres. Now, I love Paula Abdul. She is one of the most gracious women I have ever met. Especially as a dancer, I admire a lot of her contributions to the entertainment industry. BUT her time was over. It was time to move on, and the producers of AI came to their decision.... BUT...
EXCUSE ME.... WHY WOULD YOU PICK ELLEN???

I'll tell you why... (aside from because she is awesome)

She's an open homosexual. We all know people tried to pull the anti-gay card when rocker, Adam Lambert, went home as runner-up to the conservative and wholesome, Kris Allen. Having a judge on the panel who represents the feminine and the GSBT demographic demonstrates fair competition and will continue to attract people of all backgrounds.

She's one of the most successful women in daytime television. She knows how to relate to audiences of all ages and all genders. Moreover, the fact that she is CONSTANTLY in the media because of her talkshow, the COVERGIRL make-up campaign, and her relationship with Portia, it gives more opportunity to publicize the show and to bring her fans with her in the evening.

She's funny. Paula may have made us laugh, but I can't say her reasoning was due to comedic timing. Instead, it was typically due to ditzy comments or being called out on her stupidity by Simon. I think Ellen will bring a sense of optimism and silliness that is not interpreted as dumb or cheesy.

No, she may not have much experience in the music industry, but neither did Paula(think about it). Yes, Abdul was a best-selling artist, but --in my opinion-- she was NO musician and NO singer. She was a Laker girl turned choreographer, who fell into the business. Her expertise is solely in the dance business. Ellen may not have been a professional dancer, but she does start her show off with a dance break and introduces her audience to new music everyday. Close enough.

AND while some people may believe this decision to be out of the blue, I saw this coming. Ellen was one of the first people to land an exclusive on-air interview with both Adam and Kris following the American Idol finale last year, and she has actively hosted previous and current contestants over the last couple of years. I think she will be a good fit.

It's All Happening: ESPNU Campus Connection

To those who have still been keeping up with my blog despite my lack of posts, thank you so much for sticking with me!

I am so sorry I have not been making enough time to update my latest obsessions and excuses, for--let me tell you-- I have MANY in store. I have been attempting to get back into the swing of things with school back in session, and I have been learning to balance school, sorority obligations, friends, and work.

Speaking of work, you may have noticed the only posts I have been making have solely been sports related G-Roll. I am proud to announce some special news...

Palestra.net is now UWIREvideo.com. This is an amazing transition for us and will allow for the reporters to have increased exposure and networking. One of the networks UWIRE is now partnering with is an affiliate of ESPN called ESPNU , which focuses upon-- you guessed it-- university/collegiate athletics and even high school athletics. Now for the BIG news...

Not only have I been selected as UWIRE's USC Sports Reporter (primarily focusing on everything football at the moment-- press conferences, practices, traditions, etc.), but I have also been selected as one of the official USC Correspondants for ESPNU!!!

I make my national television debut on ESPNU TOMORROW at 9am ET/ 6am PT as a part of ESPN's college gameday pre-game coverage for the USC vs Ohio State football game.

I am so grateful for these opportunities that are coming my way. I see it as an awesome learning experience-- I have a LONG way to go! -- and I plan on taking full advantage of it! Thank you for all of your support! Keep an eye out for new videos, and be sure to check out uwirevideo.com regularly for daily college news.

God bless,

Giselle

New Additions: Patent Leather Peep-Toes

The classic patent leather peep toe pump: This look is available in a wide range of colors by hundreds of designers, it can dress up ANY outfit (day OR night), and it NEVER goes out of style. That being said, this is the type of shoe that a girl will continue to purchase over and over again either out of OBSESSION or simply out of wear and tear.
In my case, I do a little bit of both. On the one hand, I love shoes. For me, shoe shopping is my weakness; however, saving up and spending extra cash on shoes is my reward and not my guilty pleasure-- mind you, I ALWAYS stay within my budget and I take VERY good care of my nice shoes. On the other hand, I'm a college student living in Los Angeles. I do a lot of walking and I also do a lot of socializing in environments where people will inevitably spill or step on my babies without care.

Solution: I invest in a GREAT pair of classic heels AND I buy a pair (or a few) of great looking shoes that cost significantly less, that way I don't feel as bad if they get scuffed, and good ones can last FOREVER OR skip on the "GREAT" pair and just save buy getting and preserving a GREAT LOOKING cheaper pair (and certainly get their money's worth).

Here's a great example:

One of these shoes is the Miss Dior Patent Pump ($590); One of these shoes is the Face Pump by Guess ($53.90). Can you tell the difference??? * I painted out one of the labels *

Which is which???

Quote of the Day: Patrick Murphy

In an interview with collegecandy.com , celebrity fitness trainer Patrick Murphy was asked the question, "What's your motto/advice to live by?" Here is what my good friend, Patrick, had to say...

"Well, I say many things, but one of the things I like to say is that the root of all evil is the lack of circulation. So, everything – every problem that we have, mentally and physically with our bodies – is a lack of circulation. That is the cause and root of all evil. That’s why cancer happens, why we have eye problems, why we have skin problems, why we have all types of problems. So, we gotta keep moving."

Excuse ME: Average is NOT Always Okay

Excuse ME, fellow readers, but the post you are about to read may be offensive if taken the wrong way. I apologize if you disagree-- by all means, I would love to hear differing opinions, so please comment--- but there is just something I need to get off my chest...EVERYBODY deserves to love, find love, and be loved exactly as they are. There is a new reality show coming out on ABC called More to Love. Perhaps you may have heard of it; it was created by the makers of the hit The Bachelor and, of course, The Bachelorette. The tagline goes something like, "The average reality star is a size 2-4, but the average woman is a size 14-16". Basically, the show is a plus-sized dating show, in which women (sizes 14 and up) compete for the love of Luke, who weighs over 300 pounds.
Now, I will say that I think it is great that the show is giving the opportunity for these women, who publicly are acknowledging their difficulty to find love due to their shape and struggles with self-esteem... BUT here is what I have a problem with...

Right now heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the country. Additionally, 95% of diabetes diagnoses today is Type 2 as opposed to Type 1. (Look up these numbers and find out more information about heart disease and Type 2 diabetes at www.cancer.org) Both of these issues also just happen to have a direct relationship with the increase of obesity in America. In other words, both of these issues could easily be prevented and treated (at least, for the most part) if people chose to make healthier decisions in their lifestyle.

So while I understand the networks desire to create a show that can relate to the "average" audience or find a place to cast people who were too skinny for Biggest Loser and to big for the next Bachelor... Excuse ME, but just because it's average does not mean that it is okay!

There are people that do struggle with weight issues due to health complications beyond their control; however, in the cases of these women, I don't think that is the case with every contestant. It may be far-fetched to make such an assertion, but I think this show is promoting one of the biggest problems and worst reputations our country has. So maybe the "average reality show contestant" may be smaller than the "average American woman", but they are definitely closer or within the range of a healthy body mass index.
While I certainly hope Luke finds love, there is a part of me that also hopes he and the Mrs. don't pack on even more pounds as they continue to fall in love. Moreover, I hope having children will also encourage them to develop healthier habits, because they have to be there for their kids AND they know what it is like to struggle through childhood because of weight problems, why give pass that burden on to your kids?

EVERYBODY deserves to love, find love, and be loved EXACTLY as they are. Bigger can also be beautiful-- I'm a girl with curves, and I have fluctuated in weight throughout the years-- but there is a distinct line that need not be crossed.

I will probably watch the show, but I know this will be in the back of my mind. Thoughts?

Excuse ME: Katie Holmes

So... there was all of this hype for Katie Holmes to make an appearance as a guest "artist" on So You Think You Can Dance, but after watching her performance... I have to ask:
Excuse ME, Katie Holmes, was that absolutely necessary?

I wouldn't hate on her rendition of jazz hands and spirit fingers if it wasn't on a show called SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I think it's amazing that Holmes is getting involved with the SYTYCD charitable alliance Dizzy Feet as a member of the board; however, that does not make it necessary to show her less-than-intermediate dance skills to the dancing community and the rest of the world. Personally, I think she would have been better off talking about the charity and standing in as a guest judge.

Does she look cute? Of course! Katie Holmes is a naturally adorable person (despite the fact that she was CLEARLY LIP-SYNCHING and the song was called "Get Happy", but she had an awkward smirk the whole time). The costume was fabulous and her body looked great BUT compared to the other performers, she also looks kind of ridiculous. It was the 100th episode special, which was meant to celebrate the the last six seasons of artists who have shared their artistic passion and skills that they have spent their lives learning and perfecting.

My conclusions here are the double-edged sword: Excuse ME, people, but you can't transform into a great dancer overnight... But.... Excuse ME, How did it take Katie Holmes longer than a day---months, in fact--to learn such an easy number?

Sweet Moves: The Wedding Entrance

I can't say I would do this at my own (distant future) wedding, but I would definitely consider it entering the reception or for our vow renewals. I'm not a huge fan of Chris Brown, but I'm lovin' these sweet moves.

Obsessed: Christian Louboutin Fall Collection

Originally posted April 6th....

How happy do you think I was when I opened the following Neiman Marcus e-mail this morning??? I audibly gasped and instantly woke up from my half-asleep/zombie state to view the glory.

I'll be honest. I was looking forward to seeing the typical patent leather, pointed toes, and over-the-top designs in the Christian Louboutin bunch, BUT I was actually impressed when I noticed the Fall line had a softer, classier approach of setting the trends for this upcoming season. These are just some of my favorite looks (in addition to the glittered peep-toe pumps featured above)...
I appreciate all of the detail that goes into making these shoes-- hence the cost-- with these two pairs of boots in particular: I love the swooping and gathering on the suede ankle boot. Moreover, I love how the peep-toe AND the hidden platform for this unique look. I also enjoy the "not quite" camel coloring of the leather as well as the skinny belt detail featured at the very TOP of the ankle boot on the left. The tone of the wider wooden heel add comfortable detail.

It also appears Christian Louboutin will be bringing leopard-print and fur back AGAIN for another season, which I ADORE! Last year's Fall line had a beautiful leopard-print fur stiletto pump that was absolutely GORGEOUS. This hidden platform boot is NO exception. I'm OBSESSED with this fur leopard-print boot, which fades from dark to light to emphasize the platform toe.

To the right, notice how the textures on this line are simply FANTASTIC. Just look at the different tones of gray that appear as a result of the intricate wrinkling and gathering of the suede.
Last, but certainly not least, the CLASSIC platform pump.  I CANNOT get over the creaminess of the metallic patent leather; it reminds me of wet nail polish! I love how the color continues as it is wrapped around the front platform and sky-high heel. Obviously available in multiple colors as always. Yum :)

Yum.

Exclusively Yours: Inside the MJ Investigation

Michael Jackson's medical history is starting to unfold in pill form.Check out the full article and video at E! Online.
Los Angeles County Coroner's officials have confiscated various prescription drugs from the entertainer's rented Holmby Hills mansion, Chief Investigator Ed Winter told reporters Monday.A team from the medical examiner's office, including Winter and a photographer, had been spotted going inside around noon.

The investigators emerged from the residence toting two large plastic bags, declining to mention any specifics of what they found or where. They removed "additional medical evidence as part of our work with the LAPD," Winter said. The Los Angeles Times reported today that authorities are in the process of interviewing a number of doctors who prescribed medication for Jackson.

The initial autopsy performed Friday was ruled inconclusive pending the results of toxicology tests in six to eight weeks, though Winter confirmed that Jackson was taking prescription meds. A second autopsy requested by the family was performed the following day.But while fans and family alike won't know for sure what caused Jackson's sudden heart failure, the star's longtime friend Dr. Deepak Chopra has little doubt that drug use may have come into play.

"He was extraordinary when he was in his ecstatic states. But he was also troubled, and he surrounded himself with people who were enablers and frequently avoided people who were trying to help him," he told the Early Show this morning."In the year 2005 after the trial, he came and stayed with us for a few days, and during that time he asked me for a prescription for OxyContin," he continued. "I was very surprised, and I said, 'Why do you want that?' And he said, 'I have back pain.' And I said, 'You don't need that narcotic for back pain.' And then, as I probed, I found out that he was taking a lot of narcotics prescribed by different physicians...Somebody like that is obviously not in a normal state of consciousness," he went on to explain. "After a while, actually, they actually believe that, if they didn't get their fix, or the drug, or the narcotic, they might die…When you're prescribing narcotics, you need to be with very competent doctors."

Therein may lie the rub.

Despite his claims not to have given Jackson OxyContin or Demerol, Dr. Conrad Murray was working without board certification at the time of the star's death, E! News has learned.

The American Board of Internal Medicine confirms that the doctor's most recent board certification examination was taken in 1998…and his certification expired Dec. 31, 2008.At this time, it cannot be determined whether Dr. Murray simply did not pass the exams that would have renewed his required certification for 2009, or whether he chose to forgo them altogether.

Murray's issues with the medical board apparently didn't stop him from taking a prominent role when he discovered Jackson unconscious in his bedroom Thursday afternoon.***

"The doctor rode with Michael Jackson to the hospital," Murray's attorney, Edward Chernoff, told Larry King Live today. "He was in the hospital room. He worked with the doctors at UCLA to try to revive him. After he was pronounced dead, the doctor stayed in the hospital, spoke with the family members that were there at the time."

According to Chernoff, Murray was the one who broke the news to Jackson's children and advised doctors to break the news gently to the singer's mother, Katherine, who has a heart condition."He comforted La Toya and he talked with Jermaine, as well, about Michael and helped Jermaine with a press release," the lawyer said. "Ultimately, he spoke to the police and left."

Per Chernoff, Murray has denied ever prescribing the painkillers Demerol or Oxycontin to Jackson and had certainly not injected the singer with Demerol before he died. When King asked why Murray needed a lawyer, if the physician was not considered a person of interest in the investigation, Chernoff said, "You have a lot more faith in the justice system if you don't think he doesn't need a lawyer."

But whatever Murray added to the equation, the "Thriller" singer himself was in tip-top shape just days before his death, if manager Frank DiLeo is to be believed."He was in good shape," he told Good Morning America this morning. "His heart was good. He was strong. He was in shape to do this tour…There would have been no problems, I don't think, with him doing this tour. Nobody was pushing him to do it. Nobody was overworking him, you know, all those reports are false."

We guess only time will tell for sure.

My girlfriends are such sweethearts. This past Friday, my friend Kellian decided to throw my friend Shelley a surprise birthday dinner one month BEFORE Shelley's actual 21st birthday because Kellian is going to be in London on the real date. Precious? I only have two photos to share, but I thought I would post them anyway since I haven't posted any in awhile. Enjoy!

We had dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Saddle Ranch. They have the yummiest barbeque and comfort food, cute (and BIG) specialty drinks, and a MECHANICAL BULL!!! For dessert, Shelley's birthday "cake" was a giant mound of COTTON CANDY, my favorite :)

G-Roll: L.C. AND C.J.

While covering Lauren Conrad's book signing, I ran into everybody's favorite StarTrib gossip columnist, C.J. While many, such as Perez Hilton, find this woman to be terrifying, I found her to be so much fun; we hit it off right away... So much so that she was nice enough to include me in her video segment that accompanied her Tuesday column... and didn't make me look like a total idiot (However, I may have contributed to that considering I had no clue the camera was rolling until halfway through).
You can read her brutally honest-- a tad harsh-- article and the video here: "'The Hills' were alive with the sounds of Lauren Conrad at MOA" I'm at about the 1:15 mark. (Notice the E! News Bureau and E! Online shout-out... Yup.)

Also, stay tuned for more G-Roll from Lauren Conrad's L.A. Candy book launch at MoA, as well as your first glimpses of the new Miss Minnesota AND USC's new basketball coach!

Quote of the Day: Stephanie Pratt

In a recent interview, the "reality starlett" shared this piece of wisdom,"You are as healthy as your secrets"

Exclusively Yours: Katie Holmes SYTYCD

Last night I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to the taping of Fox's hit reality series, So You Think You Can Dance, which as previously mentioned, has become one of my new obsessions. In addition, I had the opportunity to stick around after the show to personally interview two of my favorite judges, Mary Murphy and Lil' C. You'll hear more about that later on in G-Roll, but for now, check out some exclusive secrets we found out last night. (Actual E!Online article available here)
The rumors have officially been confirmed. Katie Holmes is bringing her Broadway skills from the stage to the studio for the final episode of So You Think You Can Dance, a source tells E! News. "It taped last week," says the on-set source. "It's going to be on the finale. It's a Broadway does Hollywood number. It opens on a Broadway stage and then she walks into a Hollywood studio." The finale airs Aug. 6.

Holmes, who has been rehearsing and dancing for more than a year, was on top of her game, adds the source. "She was amazing. She was such a pro. Her legs are in great shape. She's got a hat and a cane and she's wearing a leotard and tights," the source adds. Holmes was photographed on Monday on the CBS Studio lot, walking around in a black dress with black tights and her hair pulled back tightly in a bun.

Reps for the show still decline to comment, but host Mary Murphy tells E! News, "We're going to have tons of surprises this season." Mary even hinted at a special performance: "I'm really looking forward to that and the finale as well. Who knows who may dance."

As we previously reported Katie will be doing a version of Judy Garland's song "Get Happy," choreographed by Tyce Diorio and directed by Nigel Lythgoe. Is this a good career move for Katie Holmes? Will you tune in? Hit the comments below with your thoughts.

Excuse ME: Adam Lambert... Gay?

Not that it's really that big of a deal... or even that hard of a question... BUT the question is on EVERYBODY'S mind...
Excuse ME, Adam Lambert...Umm, are you gay?
Adam Lambert’s close friend, and executive producer of West Hollywood’s Upright Cabaret where Lambert performed, tells E! it’s obvious what Lambert’s sexual orientation is. “If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it’s probably a duck,” says Ian Scheel who has worked with Lambert for the past four years. “Adam has always been genuine and true to himself. It is up to him as to whether and how he will tell America.”

Scheel says he thinks it’s funny that people are so determined to know the answer. “My grandmother from Kansas hasn’t even had to dance around the issue,” he laughs.

But according to Lambert’s old principal, Judy Shuta of Mount Carmel High School, there was never any speculation of his sexuality growing up.Shuta says in school Lambert dressed a lot more conservatively meaning no skinny jeans, and sported blond rather than black hair. “He was extremely social and openly dated girls,” says Shuta.

For the final OFFICIAL verdict fans will have to wait two weeks for Rolling Stones next issue, in which Lambert supposedly reveals the answer.

Obsessed: MAC BeLiGHTFuL

I'll be honest when I say that I'm not sure what this product is ACTUALLY meant to be used for; in fact, I don't even remember how or why I came across the product in the first place; BUT, for the last ten years or so, I have been OBSESSED with MAC Iridescent Powder in Belightful ($21). I buy it in multiples and it's FABULOUS!It may not look like much, BUT to me, the product can be used to add a little GLAM to ANY product-- Notice the bits of gold shimmering in the light.

For the EYES, brushing the powder on as an eye shadow, a base, on the inner corners of the eyes, or just beneath the brown bone enables eyes to look wider and brighter. For the FACE, dusting the product lightly above or beneath the cheek bones or on the tip top of the forehead can add definition to the face, while also emphasizing a summer (bronze) glow. Even for the BODY, first put on a light coat of your favorite lotion/moisturizer (I like to use vanilla or coconut scents), then apply the shimmering powder using a foundation or a blush brush over arms and legs can give the illusion of tone AND a tan. Finally, for the LIPS, running the smallest amount of powder over lip gloss can either lighten the tone, add shimmer, change the color, or even tone down gloss that is too slippery or shiny.

Try it out; I guarantee you will become OBSESSED :)

New Additions: D & G

Here's a golden rule: NEVER--with the exception of retail therapy and the occasional impulse purchase--pay more than an item is worth. By "worth" I do NOT mean the name on the label either; however, I do mean the fabric, the details, the durability, the estimated amount of wear, etc.

The next golden rule: ALWAYS attempt to negotiate. If you negotiate correctly, it is the store that looks silly for overpricing something. Seriously, if you do it right, you will not look cheap or trashy. Whether it be asking for a special because you bought more than one of the same item or because you are a loyal customer or because you are buying a lot of everything, never hesitate to ask for a discount or at the very least FREE shipping.

In this economy, whether you are struggling OR thriving, there is no reason not to try to save a dollar or a hundred ;)Point in hand... My newest additions from Dolce & Gabbana... I won't tell you the price I got them for, but it was a GREAT purchase to say the least.

Mini Twill Marine Halter Dress (Originally $995) This adorably patterned red, white, and blue halter is the PERFECT dress for summer! The open back along with the (modest) neckline make it flirty and sexy; while the flowing pleated skirt makes it sweet and girly. When I put it on, I felt like a little girl because all I wanted to do was spin and watch the skirt twirl... OBSESSED (as if you couldn't tell)... AND it is also perfect for DG <3
I also bought an adorable navy halter top that had a pattern with large white anchors all over and a white turtleneck halter closure. On the neckline was a detachable rose-- SO cute! Unfortunately, I could not find a picture that did it justice, but check out more cute nautical-themed clothes from the Spring/Summer 2009 line at http://www.dolcegabbana.com/

New Additions: Tory Burch

Julianne Wedge ($295) This classic shoe comes in a variety of colors and textures, but I chose to buy it (as shown) in black patent leather with zig-zag stitching around the foot and a tinted silver medallion at the toe. If you look closely, you can see that this beautiful heel DOES have a peep toe, which makes it even more perfect for Spring and Summer. Even better, the wedge itself is four inches high and is elevated at the PERFECT angle to make any leg look long and sexy.

Tanya Sandal ($295, SALE $177) I almost bought these delicately stitched sandals with hot pink accents, but in the end I decided these would be much more versatile. The nude and gold combination enable the shoe to be casual enough for daytime AND flashy enough to be worn in the evening. The color as well as the heel, also elevate the foot to add irresistible length and definition to the leg. Yum :)

Not pictured, but you should DEFINITELY check them out at toryburch.com are the Flap Pocket Shorts (I got them in blue), the Saraphina Shorts (in white), and the Frayed Short Shorts (which I got in denim) ~ OBSESSED!

More to come...

Obsessed: Las Vegas Shopping

With money won from gambling and super summer sales, what better way is there to take advantage of these generous opportunities than a little dose of retail revival?

I'll be honest, when we finally took the time to browse the shops in Vegas, I was surprisingly not at all in the mood to try things on and spend the money that I was so proud to have won... but when I had to stop at MAC for some eye shadow and D&G and Tory Burch were on the way RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER... I could not resist...

Thank you to my patient boyfriend Phil, who spent at least two hours with me as I attempted to resist beautiful things; but not to worry, even he got something out of it by picking out his awaited graduation gift at a little "hole in the wall" place called Prada ;)

Photos and more soon to come...

Exclusively Yours: Joel Madden Gets Lucky in Vegas

Although both Madden twins, Benji and Joel, visited Las Vegas over the weekend, all eyes were undoubtably on Joel as he won big in the casino AND guest DJed a sold out show at one of the hottest nightclubs on the strip.
The boys started their Vegas vacation on Sunday afternoon at the Palms, where Joel tells a fellow gambler he won a grand total of $10,000! Later into the evening, Benji and a few guyfriends headed to Bellagio's The Bank, where Joel would be spinning to kick off the memorial holiday.

Joel was not expected to arrive until after midnight; however, the show was sold out with the club at capacity level before 11pm. An employee from the hotel says large numbers of people were expected to attend, especially due to the holiday weekend, but the huge mass of people hoping to get in was "unbelievable." Typically those waiting for a spot inside the club wait in organized lines along the side of the main doors. On Sunday night/ Monday morning, however, people were scattered throughout the casino floor because there was no room for such a line.Vacationers yelled over each other trying to convince bouncers to let them in, and Madden fans pleaded to get just one glimpse of Joel; little did they realize he was right around the corner sitting solo without even the tiniest disguise.

At about midnight, Joel, completely unrecognized, walked up to a slot machine with his backpack full of equipment, took a seat--he didn't gamble-- and waited for two escorts from The Bank to accompany him into the club.
Inside (Joel posted pictures on his twitter @joelmadden), Joel, of course, updated his Twitter while playing everything from pop to hip hop, house and a little bit of rock'n'roll. He visited with his brother and friends throughout the evening a few times to take pictures-- all wore clothing from their line DCMA (check spelling)--and he was extremely gracious to his fans. Guests danced and partied until 4am.

Girlfriend and Momma-to-Be, Nicole Richie, joined him the next day at the Palms Resort & Casino.

Obsessed: Robert Pattinson... kind of...

So I THOUGHT I was developing an obsession with Hollywood's favorite vampire Robert Pattinson, until I came across an article by E!Online's Mark Malkin... It was then that I realized, I am nowhere near a TRUE obsession...

While attenending at the amfAR benefit at the Cannes Film Festival, movie mogul Harvey Weinstein put fellow-guest on the spot... for a good cause, of course. While joking about his daughter's infatuation with Pattinson, Weinstein came up with the lovely idea to auction off the opportunity for someone's daughter simple to meet Robert Pattinson and get a small kiss on the cheek. Yup.

It gets better... This ten, maybe twenty seconds of interaction ended up selling to two bidders for 20,000 EUROS!!! In US cash, that's about $55,000!!!

Meeting Rob Pattinson: priceless??? Not so much. Clearly!

A Day in the LiFe: American IdoL After-Party

Wednesday night, I was lucky enough to receive an exclusive pass into the American Idol after-party hosted by Ford and Coca-Cola. The celebration was held in downtown Los Angeles atop Club Nokia, which overlooked the crowd-filled courtyard of LA Live.

After walking the red carpet, guests were offered specialty drinks such as The Judge's Wrath, Come Together, Sweet Victory, Going to Hollywood, and spiked fruit-flavored sno cones--YUM! Even better were light-up glasses and bottles that guests were welcome to take home as souvenirs.

Once inside, guests had the option of choosing from FOUR buffet tables stocked with appetizers and entrees--which was well-deserved considering the show took place at dinner time-- all of which were SO delicious. Extra long glass dinner tables were showered with AI temporary tattoos and postcards featuring our newest American Idol, Kris Allen. SO cute! Oh, and don't let me forget to mention the dessert buffet, which had just about every item one could find in a candy store, bakery, AND ice cream shop... Thank goodness, I did not hit up that spot!

Many former American Idol contestants showed up to support the festivities and catch up with old friends including my favorites Blake Lewis, who literally never stopped dancing--even through the buffet-- from the moment he entered the door, and David Archuletta, who is a LOT shorter than I imagined, but nonetheless was adorably humble as fans screamed for photographs and hugs.

Also looking stunning as EVER were slimmer-looking Kimberly Locke and Diana DeGarbo. Locke wore a fitted black lace dress, while DeGarbo rocked a fucia faux-hawk with a sexy (and studded) leopard-print cocktail dress--RAWR. Another lovely lady rocking the leopard print was actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate-- GORGEOUS Christian Louboutin leapard-print slingbacks-- who attended with her good friend, Kate Walsh, from the television series Private Practice. Both women looked beautiful wearing all white-- skinny jeans and blazers.

There were two highlights of the evening... The first was meeting Miss USA/Universe host, Access Hollywood's Billy Bush... However, nothing compares to the second highlight in which my best friend drunkenly screamed "Kristy! Kristy!" (as in, Kristy Yama Gucci)... at MICHELLE KWAN! Kwan blankly stared at my friend and kindly looked away-- I'm sure that wasn't the first time someone called her that, let's be honest.

Overall, it was such a fun time, and I'm really glad I had my bestie Danni Starr to share it with :)

Obsessed: David Yurman Mosaic Ring

Obsessed...
David Yurman White Mosaic Ring ($1350) My obsession for this unique diamond ring began instantly. I saw it, and I immediately fell in love. The seemingly random arrangement is adorably intricate, and the integration of sterling silver and 18-karat gold enables the piece to be worn with any combination of clothes or jewelry during the day OR at night. The stones include white agate, white moonstone, moon quartz, and pave diamonds that add up to a .12 carat weight. Yum :)

G-RoLL: LA Coliseum FoR SaLe???

With California's ever-increasing budget deficit, the state is considering selling many high-profile buildings and real estate. There is even talk of potentially selling the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, home to the USC Trojan Football Team. What do the students think about all this???

It's been awhile since I have done stand-up, so I am a little rusty. Nonetheless, it feels good to be back! More blogs coming soon :)
